Who is Zoe Valentine?

Writer, Horse Girl, mentally funky Young Adult

Young Life

Zoe Valentine was born in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. As the child of two young musicians/artists, she developed an appreciation for unique creativity at an early age. Zoe moved around a bit due to family turbulence, but stayed within the perimeter of Cobb County until she graduated high school. Throughout her childhood, Zoe loved to ride horses, play soccer, create Youtube videos (don’t. don’t even think about it.), and write. She won several awards for her writing as a child, but became troubled as she grew into a high school student. While her academics suffered, she credits many of the adventures that took place during that time as inspiration for her storytelling and unique worldview, and does not at all regret being a compete and total bum during the most formative years of her youth.

Adult Life

Following high school graduation, Zoe left Cobb County to live on a muscadine vineyard in the Appalachian foothills of Homer, GA; A single bedroom, 500 sq. foot farmhouse from 1938 that her great grandad acquired in a worker’s comp related lawsuit, following the loss of several fingers. Zoe attended college while working as a saleslady at the local western store. For several years, she worked 2-4 regular farmhand jobs in addition in order to support her horse obsession. Zoe began competing in equestrian events shortly after she entered the workforce, and showed multiple disciplines including dressage, eventing, and barrel racing. Currently, Zoe has 2 bay mares (Athena and Maybe), and enjoys trail riding as well as competing in local rodeos, barrel races, and ranch/pleasure shows. She lives on a small farm in Homer, GA with her husband, Dane, and grandma/contributing artist, Cindy, and is focussing on writing (& riding) while continuing a career in sales.

“Ok cool i guess, but what do you write?!”

Well buddy, I sure am glad you asked. I created this blog with the intent of spotlighting the power of creativity; as well as providing insight, resources, and encouragement to those who are looking to harness theirs. Don’t worry, though- I am a practicing creative myself. I also write fictional pieces- novels, novellas, short stories, and poetry as well (see the projects tab). The goal of my written work is to illustrate the way in which a neurodivergent brain processes thoughts and feelings depending on various contributing factors. When I write, I aim to shine a light on the Question: What aspects of our inner wiring have manifested in our personality, thought process, decision-making, and outlook on life?

It is my greatest hope that you may find relatability, representation, comfort- hell, even a slight chuckle or silent nose laugh- in the words that poured out of my head and onto your screen or page. Thank you so much for reading. You are a pimp, don’t forget it. Unless you don’t want to be a pimp. Then I guess you’re a- a saint? Wizard? Ruler of the underworld? Whatever. My point is I appreciate you and think you’re pretty dang cool.
